Chorworks Summer Workshop July 9-13th, 2013:

PSALMS, SONNETS & SONGS

This year – our ninth annual summer workshop – traces the course of 150 years of sacred and secular music in England. From Henry VIII’s break with Rome, through the English Civil War, to the Restoration of King Charles II, it includes works by Taverner, Byrd, Gibbons, Ravenscroft, Purcell and Blow. The workshop is for all levels of singers from advanced high school upwards, for choir directors, and for those who simply wish to listen and learn more about this glorious music.

To represent the broad scope of this year’s program, we have taken the title of William Byrd’s publication of 1588: PSALMS, SONNETS and SONGS

An internationally distinguished faculty leads a full schedule of seminars, rehearsals, coaching and performances. Tutors include Philip Cave (Director), Sally Dunkley, Rosa Lamoreaux, James Kennerley and Patrick Walders. The workshop runs from 9:00am to 9:00pm each day from Tuesday 9th to Saturday 13th July 2013 (plus an optional extra day of musical orientation Monday 8th July) at George Washington University Foggy Bottom Campus, Washington, DC. Full details can be found here.
